The 1550 sq. ft. sculptural seating installation opens in the central gallery space in the University of California Berkeley Art Museum / Pacific Film Archives in Berkeley, CA. The Undercover Table (SFMOMA permanent collection) is suspended in the air, allowing visitors visual access to items dangling from its underside, in Sensate: Bodies and Design at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Curated by Henry Urbach, the exhibit presents new ways of thinking about the entanglement of human bodies and the designed world.

Faulders Studio is one of 6 competition award winners in the Rising Tides International Design Competition, sponsored by the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission.
Our RAYdike proposal uses a nighttime laser system to map probable dike heights and locations directly upon the Bay as a worst-case scenario, in an effort to stimulate proactive solutions addressing rising tide levels due to climate change.

Faulders Studio’s GEOtube: Vertical Salt Deposit Growth System is jury selected for inclusion in [bracket] issue no. 1 titled On Farming. This edition examines the process of farming as being mutable, parametric, and efficient – once understood in terms of agriculture, today information, energy, labor, and landscape can be farmed. Publication forthcoming in 2009.

Ten architects are invited to re-envision how a contemporary art museum might be placed in the Presidio of San Francisco. In the CAMP: Reconsidered exhibit, hypothetical proposals are presented to stimulate a productive discussion regarding the placement of contemporary buildings within this de-militarized parkland area.

A model of Airspace Tokyo screen is presented in 246 and Counting: Recent Architecture + Design Acquisitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. This exhibition, curated by Henry Urbach, departs from SFMOMA's typical exhibition format to describe how the museum collects work acquired by the Architecture and Design Department.

Thom Faulders teaches a one-week workshop during the CCA 333 summer studio session in San Francisco. The topic for this year's studio is focused on Responsive Architecture, and is run in combination with workshops by Rodolphe el-Khoury and Studio (n-1), both from the University of Toronto.

Thom Faulders travels to Mexico City to begin work with Phuze, a producer of design objects using new innovations in glass technology. The limited production series provides an opportunity to translate architectural-scale geometries into small-scale objects, and will be distributed worldwide. Thom Faulders gives a lecture titled "Sensate Spaces".

The Undercover Table.V2 travels to Milan for the House for All (Casa Per Tutti) Exhibition at La Triennale di Milano Museum in Milan, Italy. The exhibition explores new notions for contemporary living, and presents solutions for topics including temporary environments, emergency shelters, self-built homes, or special needs (floating houses, etc.). The exhibit includes full-scale houses by Kengo Kuma, MVRDV, the Red Cross, U-dome, and others.
