The Undercover Table (SFMOMA permanent collection) is suspended in the air, allowing visitors visual access to items dangling from its underside, in Sensate: Bodies and Design at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Curated by Henry Urbach, the exhibit presents new ways of thinking about the entanglement of human bodies and the designed world.

A model of Airspace Tokyo screen is presented in 246 and Counting: Recent Architecture + Design Acquisitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. This exhibition, curated by Henry Urbach, departs from SFMOMA's typical exhibition format to describe how the museum collects work acquired by the Architecture and Design Department.

Thom Faulders teaches a one-week workshop during the CCA 333 summer studio session in San Francisco. The topic for this year's studio is focused on Responsive Architecture, and is run in combination with workshops by Rodolphe el-Khoury and Studio (n-1), both from the University of Toronto.

Thom Faulders travels to Mexico City to begin work with Phuze, a producer of design objects using new innovations in glass technology. The limited production series provides an opportunity to translate architectural-scale geometries into small-scale objects, and will be distributed worldwide. 06.2008_Deform House First to Use Fiber Optic Skylight
Deform House in San Francisco is the first building on the U.S. West Coast to install a fiber optic skylight system. Created in Europe, this system allows for natural daylight to be directed through interstitial spaces, using a rooftop bank of sun-tracking lenses that concentrates light onto fiber optic cables. The result is natural light that reaches deep into the building typically reliant on artificial lighting.

The Undercover Table.V2 travels to Milan for the House for All (Casa Per Tutti) Exhibition at La Triennale di Milano Museum in Milan, Italy. The exhibition explores new notions for contemporary living, and presents solutions for topics including temporary environments, emergency shelters, self-built homes, or special needs (floating houses, etc.). The exhibit includes full-scale houses by Kengo Kuma, MVRDV, the Red Cross, U-dome, and others.

Thom Faulders teaches an Advanced Graduate and Undergraduate architecture studio at CCA, sponsored by the Paris-based luxury brand company PPR. The pilot architecture studio is offered in parallel with Industrial Design studios, and explores the future of shopping in an age of e-commerce, personal electronics, virtual environments, and wired architecture. PPR has developed a portfolio of high-growth global brands, and is presented in 90 countries with brands including PUMA, Gucci, Redcats, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, and Stella McCartney.

The Undercover Table is presented in the catalog for Design Contre Design: Deux Siecles de Creations (Design by Design: Two Centuries of Creations), for the exhibition at the Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais in Paris. Design contre Design draws parallels and provokes a dialog between iconic design objects, from the Industrial Revolution to the present.
